More Summer Fun
This past weekend Jay and I headed to the beach with friends and family. Jay had planned to do some fishing, and I of course..shopping. :) We had a wonderful dinner with my parents, Josh and Candace and friends the first night. I also got to spend the day with my mother in law on her birthday! Susie and I along with my mom spent the day in thrift and vintage shops and had lunch at the cutest little bistro. What a great day spent with two ladies I love dearly! Our second night there we went to A.J. spurs where our dear friend Tom took the challenge of finishing a 35 oz. steak! Well he did it and even got the T-shirt to prove it! Our last night we met up with my brother and sister n law and had dinner with Jay's parents to celebrate Father's Day. It was great to see them, and I got my baby fix. We had such a great time. Family and friends are what make our lives so rich!!!

What A Beautiful Song
Love is not a place
To come and go as we please
It's a house we answer in
Then commit to never leave
So lock the door behind you
Throw away the key
We'll work it out together
Let it bring us to our knees
Chorus:
Love is a shelter in a raging storm
Love is peace in the middle of a war
And if we try to leave, may God send angels to guard the door
No, love is not a fight but it's something worth fighting for
To some, love is a word
That they can fall into
But when they're falling out
Keeping that word is hard to do
Chorus:
Love is a shelter in a raging storm
Love is peace in the middle of a war
And if we try to leave, may God send angels to guard the door
No, love is not a fight but it's something worth fighting for
Love will come to save us
If we'll only call
He will ask nothing from us
But demand we give our all
Chorus:
Love is a shelter in a raging storm
Love is peace in the middle of a war
And if we try to leave, may God send angels to guard the door
No, love is not a fight but it's something worth fighting for
I will fight for you
Would you fight for me?
It's worth fighting for
To come and go as we please
It's a house we answer in

Happy Father's Day
A little girl needs Daddy
For many, many things:
Like holding her high off the ground
Where the sunlight sings!
Like being the deep music
That tells her all is right
When she awakens frantic with
The terrors of the night.
Like being the great mountain
That rises in her heart
And shows her how she might get home
When all else falls apart.
Like giving her the love
That is her sea and air,
So diving deep or soaring high
She'll always find him there.

Dad
Sunday my wonderful Dad will celebrate his birthday. I saw this and thought of him. My Dad is everything that a loving Godly father should be. I am so lucky to have been his.
Life Lessons
You may have thought I didn't see,
Or that I hadn't heard,
Life lessons that you taught to me,
But I got every word.
Perhaps you thought I missed it all,
And that we'd grow apart,
But Dad, I picked up everything,
It's written on my heart.
Without you, Dad, I wouldn't be
The woman I am today;
You built a strong foundation
No one can take away.
I've grown up with your values,
And I'm very glad I did;
So here's to you, dear father,
From your forever grateful kid.

Character
"The measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he never would be found out."
“Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”
Everyone tries to define this thing called Character. It's not hard. Character is doing what's right when nobody's looking.”
A man's reputation is what other people think of him; his character is what he really is.”

Update
One of my very first post on my blog was around a year ago when we were getting our master bath redone. Several people have asked for an update with pictures. This project took lots of hard work from Jay and his Dad. Jay does not cut corners, and will not be happy until it is done exactly as he envisions it. They built my closet from scratch and did an amazing job. I still have quite a bit more decorating to do but here is most of the finished project.
My very overcrowded, unorganized closet!!
The shower after. With six differnt nozzles we like to call it the carwash. :)

The Boat
It's finally done!!! After about six months of Jay impatiently waiting, the boat is here!! Well not here, but there on the beach. :) This past weekend the boat was ready and the guys were biting at the bit to get out there. Uncle D, Justin and Jay headed over Friday night for an early start Saturday morning. They had a great time even if a poor helpless seal fell victim of the large boat. We are looking forward to many more trips out with friends and family.

Backyard Beauties
If you know me at all you know that I love working in the yard. I find it very relaxing, and I love the beautiful outcome. Jay a couple of months ago decided to grow some tomatoes and squash with the kids, a few of our favorites. They have been quite the challenge. He babies those things and practically begs them to grow. :) Seriously though he has taken really good care of them and was so excited when he saw his first tomato. A few weeks ago we had a family barbecue and the kids were all eating outside. I walked outside to see my adorable niece Skylar holding Jay's first baby tomato in her hand. Well being the awesome Auntie that I am, I hid the tomato to avoid any "trouble" for Sylar. Jay did eventually see the "hidden" tomato and his eyes got as big as saucers. I explained what had happened and assured him that more tomatoes would eventually show up. He did find it all quite funny. So here are some pics of our beautiful roses and budding baby tomatoes. Can hardly wait to eat them!
Fun Times
We recently had the privilege of having Jay's cousins Ken, Kay and Kameron Burgess with us while they were in the area on deputation. We had such a wonderful time together. Even if I did get the stomach flu the second day they were here. It was a great opportunity for everyone to catch up with each other. We have kind of taken a liking to Kameron, he got to stay an extra week with us. We will be so sad to see him go today. We wish them safety on their travels and God's blessings on the incredible work they are doing. We love you guys!!
